How do I connect ChatGPT to Nyria through MCP?
In ChatGPT, open Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server, and paste your Nyria strategy's MCP server URL. OpenAI lists custom MCP server connections for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu on the web. Nyria needs no sign-in: the token in the URL is the key. Start with a paper bot, because an alert sent to a live bot places a real order.

Connect ChatGPT in six steps
- 1
Copy the strategy's MCP server URL
In Nyria, create a strategy with the alert source AI Agent (MCP). Open it, select the Integration tab, then Show URL, and copy the MCP server URL. It looks like https://api.nyria.io/mcp/YOUR_TOKEN.
- 2
Put a paper bot on the strategy
Deploy a bot on Nyria Paper. It is free and fills against simulated money, so the first alerts cost nothing.
- 3
Open Plugins in ChatGPT
On ChatGPT web, go to Plugins, select the plus button, then select Add custom MCP server. On Business, only admins and owners can create one. You do not need to turn on Developer Mode first.
- 4
Name it and paste the URL
Enter a name such as Nyria. Under Connection, paste the MCP server URL from Nyria. Nyria needs no sign-in: the token in the URL is the key.
- 5
Accept the warning and create it
Read ChatGPT's risk warning for the server, select I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
- 6
Try a preview
Start a new conversation, type @ and select the plugin. Ask it to list your bots, then to preview the alert buy AAPL. A preview places nothing.
What ChatGPT can call
- nyria_preview_alert reads an alert and shows what Nyria would do. It places no order.
- nyria_send_alert sends the alert to every bot on the strategy.
- nyria_strategy_info shows the strategy's name, status and active bot count.
- nyria_recent_orders lists the strategy's recent orders with status, quantity and price.
- nyria_list_bots lists each bot's broker, whether it is live or paper, and its status.
Before an alert goes live
- On a strategy with a live bot, a sent alert places a real order at that broker.
- The bot decides the size. The message does not.
- Nyria attaches no stop order to an entry. Closes come from exit alerts.
- The URL is the key to one strategy. Keep it out of chats and screenshots.
- Select Rotate token on the Integration tab to cut off the old URL.
Which ChatGPT plans
- OpenAI says custom MCP server connections are available for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu on the web.
- Claude and Cursor connect to the same strategy. See their guides.
Questions
- Do I need ChatGPT Business to connect Nyria?
- OpenAI lists custom MCP server connections for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu on the web. If you are on another plan, connect Claude or Cursor to the same Nyria strategy instead.
- Can ChatGPT place real trades with Nyria?
- Yes, when the strategy has a live bot. The send tool passes the alert to every bot on the strategy, and a live bot places a real order at its broker. A paper bot only simulates.
- Can ChatGPT choose the position size?
- No. The bot's own settings decide the size. The message only names the trade.
- How do I cut ChatGPT off?
- Select Rotate token on the strategy's Integration tab and confirm. The old MCP URL stops working at once.
- What does it cost?
- Paper is free. Live trading from $15 a month.
