Robinhood trading bot: what to know before you build
Robinhood does not publish a trading API for stocks or options. Its official Crypto Trading API accepts orders for crypto spot, authenticated with Ed25519 key pairs. For stocks and options, any automation must use the unofficial private endpoints that Robinhood's own app calls, which carry no guarantees and can be restricted. Nyria is building a Robinhood connection in an unofficial Beta, and the beta status will change as stability is confirmed. Test for free on Nyria Paper while you wait for the beta to open.
Official documentation
Get ready for the Robinhood beta
- 1
Join the early-access list
Go to nyria.io/integrations/robinhood and add your email to the early-access list. Nyria will notify you when the beta opens for your account.
- 2
Set up a strategy on paper
While you wait, create a strategy in Nyria and deploy a bot on Nyria Paper. Paper is free on every plan and uses the same alert-to-order workflow as a live account.
- 3
Connect Robinhood in Nyria
When notified, open Integrations and select the Robinhood card. The unofficial connection signs in as your Robinhood account. No sandbox exists; all tests run on a real account.
- 4
Confirm the beta is stable
Run a small number of orders first and verify fills in the Logs tab. The unofficial route can stop working without notice; treat the beta as experimental until it is confirmed stable.
- 5
Deploy a live bot
When the paper log and beta testing confirm the strategy is working, deploy a live bot on the Robinhood account. A bot on a live account needs a Nyria Pro plan.
What the API does and does not cover
- Robinhood's official Crypto Trading API is for crypto spot only, authenticated with Ed25519 key pairs you generate.
- Robinhood has no official API for stocks or options. Any stock or option automation uses its private endpoints.
- There is no Robinhood sandbox. A connected account places real orders with real money from the first test.
- Nyria's connection is unofficial and labelled Beta. Robinhood has not approved or endorsed it.
Nyria Paper while you wait
- Nyria Paper simulates stock, option and crypto orders against live market data.
- It is free on every plan, with up to 10 paper bots running at once.
- The same strategy and alert format you test on paper will work on a live bot, with no changes.
- Paper fills are simulated; they do not reflect what Robinhood would execute at the same price.
