Does Robinhood have an API?

Yes, Robinhood runs two official APIs. The Crypto Trading API serves Robinhood Crypto customers in the US. Agentic Trading launched in beta in May 2026. It lets AI agents trade through Robinhood's trading MCP. Section 29 of its Customer Agreement sets the API rules.

The Crypto Trading API

Robinhood offers its Crypto Trading API to Robinhood Crypto customers in the US.

You create API credentials in web classic, under your crypto account settings.

Each key carries the actions you define for it.

Agentic Trading and the MCP

On May 27, 2026, Robinhood opened Agentic Trading in beta.

External AI agents connect to Robinhood's trading MCP and place trades.

Each agent needs its own Robinhood MCP account, opened just for it.

At launch, Robinhood said the beta supported equities only.

Its agent onboarding page now lists equities, options and crypto tools.

Robinhood says it doesn't supervise, monitor or audit these agents.

What the agreement says

Section 29 of Robinhood's Customer Agreement covers API and MCP access.

  • Section 29.1 bars using the API Package without Robinhood's express written consent.
  • Section 29.2 says to treat API keys as sensitive credentials.
  • Section 29.7 lets Robinhood revoke API authorization at any time, without notice.
  • It also limits API products to your own personal use.
  • Robinhood can handle and route API orders differently, which can hurt execution.

Unofficial libraries

Third-party libraries such as robin_stocks list Robinhood among their supported APIs.

Robinhood pitched Agentic Trading as access "without the workarounds or unofficial APIs."

The Customer Agreement doesn't name unofficial libraries either way.

How traders connect Robinhood

  • An AI agent on Robinhood's trading MCP, in a dedicated MCP account.
  • Your own code on the Crypto Trading API, for crypto in a US account.
  • A third-party service. TradersPost lists Robinhood on its brokers page.
  • A library such as robin_stocks.
  • AutoView: Robinhood is not listed on its exchange page.

Risks to weigh

  • Robinhood can revoke API authorization at any time, for any reason.
  • API orders can get different handling and routing from Robinhood.
  • AI agents can place real trades. Treat API keys as sensitive credentials.
  • Read section 29 of the Customer Agreement before you connect any tool.
  • Trading involves risk of loss.
