Guide
Is automated trading profitable?
It depends on the rules, not on the automation. A bot places the orders your rules describe, on time and the same way each time, and it makes a weak rule no better. Any strategy can lose money, and Nyria publishes no performance figures. The way to judge a rule is to run it on paper, read every fill, then go live small and check each fill against your broker's own history.

How to judge a rule before real money
- 1
Write the rule down
State what opens a position, what closes it and how much each entry puts in. A rule you cannot write down cannot be automated.
- 2
Run it on Nyria Paper
Send the real alerts to a paper bot for a few weeks. It is free, needs no broker and fills from the live quote.
- 3
Read every order on the Logs tab
Check that each alert traded what you meant and that each exit closed its entry.
- 4
Allow for what paper leaves out
Paper fills pay the quoted spread and never slip. A live account can fill at a worse price, can be rejected by the broker and can fill only part of an order.
- 5
Go live small and compare with the broker
Deploy a bot on the broker account with a small Budget per entry. Compare each fill with the broker's order history every week.
What automation changes
- The order goes out when the alert arrives, without you at the screen.
- The same rule runs the same way every time, with no retyping.
- You can test a rule on paper before it touches money.
What it does not change
- Whether the rule itself works. A losing rule loses faster when it runs on its own.
- Costs: fees, spreads and the difference between a quoted and a filled price.
- Nyria attaches no stop order to an entry, so a position closes when an exit alert arrives.
Questions
- Does Nyria show how a strategy performs?
- Each bot and strategy keeps figures on its own closed trades. They describe what happened and do not predict what will.
- Can I test without risking money?
- Yes. Nyria Paper is free, needs no card and runs up to 10 paper bots.
- What does it cost?
- Paper is free. Live trading from $15 a month.
